When I was 20 weeks pregnant, my child was given a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy 21 and an AV Canal Defect; from that moment on I knew I will always be a “HEART MOM.”

Desmond was born two weeks early, and I was prepared for the worst. I was told once Desmond was born, he will be sent directly to the NICU for a couple of weeks. He could have some difficulty breathing, he may have a hard time gaining weight, and most likely he wouldn’t be able to breastfeed (something I’m very passionate about), due to low muscle tone. On top of all that, he could possibly have some other immune issues. On February 4th, 2016 Desmond arrived weighing 7.3 lbs and 20 inches long.
