Ella Grace was born a perfectly normal healthy baby we thought. At 4 days old she was airlifted from Oconee Memorial to Greenville Memorial in severe distress. The doctors found that she had a coarctation, Partial Anomolous Pulmonary Venous Return and a Bicuspid Valve. She needed surgery to fix her coarctation. Her organs were shutting down due to the lack of blood from her heart. We said our goodbyes to her as the cardiologist and the paramedics loaded her into the ambulance to head to MUSC. We had no idea if our baby would be alive when we got there or not. She made the journey!

She was put on a ventilator until she was 9 days old, then she underwent her first heart surgery. They fixed her coarctation but not the other 2 problems. Today she is 6 years old and has yearly checkups with the cardiologist. The cardiologist doesn’t think she will have to have anymore surgeries anytime soon! Everyday with her is a true blessing! #CHDHeartestStories #FacesofCHD #CHDAware#1in100 #HeartMonth #ERHF
