Children’s Heart Program of South Carolina
South Carolina is fortunate to have a dedicated heart program for children living with heart defects, and the ERHF is proud to work with them by funding projects aimed at advancing patient care and medical reseaerch. The Children’s Heart Program of South Carolina is a collaborative effort by all children’s hospitals in South Carolina to provide the state’s children with the best clinical cardiac care. Local pediatric cardiologists’ offices serve as the medical home for these children, ensuring consistency of care and follow-up, but all catheterizations and surgeries take place at Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital in Charleston. Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota
The Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program For Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is pioneering cutting edge treatment for HLHS. This program is identifying genetic causes of HLHS, predicting outcomes, developing a cell-based therapy and creating a system for continuous learning. The ERHF is proud to be a part of their annual Feel The Beat family friendly program by speaking to program attendees on the subject of hope. To learn more about this program and to inquire about their research studies, please contact Julia Thebiay, Study Coordinator, at 507-538-8425 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit their website.
Children’s Heart Project
The Children’s Heart Project of Samaritan’s Purse works with top-quality hospitals to provide surgery for children who live in countries where the required medical expertise and equipment are not available. These children and their families are brought to the United States to receive lifesaving heart surgery. Children’s Heart Project also locates evangelical Christian churches and families willing to host the groups while they stay in the U.S. The host church and family become witnesses of Christ’s love as they experience missions work in their own backyard. The ERHF is proud to partner with Children’s Heart Project to impact the nations for Jesus Christ. Visit their website.
American Heart Association
The ERHF worked alongside the AHA on the Emerson Rose Act in 2013. This law ensures all newborns in South Carolina will be screened for potential CHDs before being discharged from the hospital. We continue work with the AHA to raise awareness about CHDs within our community. Visit their website.
Local Supporting Partners
We could not change the future for those affected by CHDs without our supporting partners. The ERHF is a 501(c)(3) organization, ran by volunteers, and does not receive any federal or state funding. We are solely funded by individual, community and corporate contributions.
