We provide opportunities for Community, Education, Spiritual and Emotional Support and Financial Support during times of crisis for those battling CHDs in our state and internationally. Many heart families feel alone and overwhelmed when receiving an unexpected diagnosis. We sponsor events, offer grief and trauma support and introduce families to support groups where they can find a community of support.
The ERHF® fills that gap to meet the financial needs of families to provide what insurance or the family us unable to provide. Gas cards, paying utility bills, assisting with travel and hotel expenses are just a few examples of how the ERHF® fills the gap. Our staff and volunteers provide emotional and spiritual care for families as they listen to a family’s story, share the ERHF® story and share God’s story of hope and love through Jesus Christ. Staff and volunteers on our Care Team visit and touch base with families on a regular basis providing a support system that may be absent in their lives.
We aim to change the future of those affected by Congenital Heart Defects through quality improvement projects, research and care for the medical community. Quality improvement Projects are innovative ways to provide personalized care and/or increase quality of care for CHD patients.
The ERHF® also partners with medical specialists to support research projects that are high risk but high reward through novel treatments and techniques. These projects aim to have a big impact on CHD patient outcomes beyond our state.
Quality of Care for patients is strengthened when the morale of the medical care team is high. The ERHF® provides support to medical team members in many ways including sponsoring meals during shifts, hosting appreciation events, sending cards of encouragement, and providing nurse scholarships for continued professional development.

We communicate about and advocate for Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs), the most common birth defect.
Since 2011 the ERHF® has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about congenital heart defects. In 2013, the Emerson Rose Act was passed in South Carolina requiring all newborns to be screened for CHDs at birth.
We continue to raise awareness each February during heart month, and throughout the year sharing the mission of the ERHF® with school programs, churches, philanthropy and business groups, and individuals in our community.
We share that there is always hope and joy to be found in the Gospel, no matter what. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the driving force behind every initiative of the ERHF®.
We believe that God has given us the privilege of displaying the love He has for the world. Although this world has been broken since the rebellion of the first humans, God had a grand plan to send his only Son, Jesus to be a substitute for humanity, stepping in to take the consequences of sin on Himself. The Bible says in that, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Those who profess faith in Jesus are saved from their sins and restored to a relationship with the Creator, God.
