Julia’s daughter, Emmie, is 4 years old. When she was 8 months old she received a heart transplant and was hospitalized at MUSC for 8 months. She received a pulmonary artery band which, unfortunately, was unsuccessful. Emmie was bridged to transplant with a Berlin heart for over 2 months before receiving her new heart on 2/20/19.
Emmie is now a happy and healthy little girl with her healthy new heart! She loves all things Disney princesses, singing, dancing, and playing T-ball.
Emmie’s mom says, “The Emerson Rose Heart Foundation was a huge help while we were inpatient at MUSC. They provided us with meal cards and other resources through palliative care. God has worked miracles through our daughter. After losing our first daughter to dilated cardiomyopathy at 10 weeks old, it has been the biggest blessing to watch the testimony of our second daughter.”
